The Scalability of Cloud Computing

Scalability of Cloud ComputingThe scalability of cloud computing is a primary reason why businesses & individuals choose to compute in the cloud!  Check out what it can do for you!

The scalability of cloud computing is attracting many interested parties into the world of file hosting.

The term “scalability” refers to the ability something has to adjust in size.  The scalability of cloud computing refers to the unique flexibility service providers can offer to their users.  The big benefit here is that it can be done without much, if any interruption in service!

Let’s run this down a bit more clearly with an example.

Scalability of Cloud Computing in Action

Say you’re a business owner and you decided to move your operations to the cloud.

OK!

Things are plugging along and you’re really enjoying all the benefits of cloud computing– accessibility, backup, etc….

But soon you begin to realize that you’re running out of storage space.

Uh Oh…

You know from past experience that once a hard drive fills up, you pretty much have only two options:

  1. Buy an external hard drive
  2. Buy a new computer

The first option wouldn’t be that bad– external storage options have reduced in price over the past few years.  But on the flipside, how long will it be until you just have to buy ANOTHER one?  Do you really want to have several different external hard drives hanging out of your computer or laptop?  Worse, how are you going to organize and remember which files are on which drive?  Sounds complicated.

The second option is no good because it requires quite a lot of money.  AND you’ll have the added frustration of transferring all your files from your old computer to your new one.

It seems like there must be a better way… And there is!

Because you chose to host your files on a cloud server, a simple phone call to your provider will probably be all it takes to increase your storage capacity!

That’s the scalability of cloud computing at work.

For businesses and individuals who cycle through a lot of data, the savings can really start to add up.  Not just in monetary terms,  but in the reduction of downtime that is normally experienced when purchasing and integrating new hardware with existing IT equipment.

Plus, the scalability of cloud computing can give IT managers greater flexibility and help to ensure a more consistent system operation.

As a result, the scalability in cloud computing has proven to be an irresistible feature for people worldwide!
